Walking With Angels I heard children crying as I was walking along a hill. Their voices lingered in my ears as if they needed attention. To my surprise, I found the children were trying to pull their father down from a tree, where he was trying to hang himself.

I rushed over to the scene and begged the old fellow to come down. With his children clinging to me, I felt I was going to lose it. The mother didn't care a lot because she was going to do it herself and leave her five children abandoned. I gave two of the older children a couple of My Bible Friends and told them to take the little ones under the shade of a tree while I talked with their dad.

In the middle of this I mumbled a few words to the Lord. I need Him to help me, for I am just a literature evangelist! The Lord heard my prayers, for the man burst into tears and thought about it for a while. He told me the story of his life. He was a priest in the Mormon congregation who lost control of the “families are forever” values in his life. He abused his wife, and money was all he could think of. His wife never saw a penny of what he earned, and he turned to alcohol when he didn't seem to be making enough. He felt suicide was his only way out, because his wife threatened to leave him.

The Lord's presence was very near me and made my day easier. I recited Psalm 23 to him and after each verse I explained it to him in detail, the miraculous things God had done. I managed to counsel with him and won. But his wife still insisted it was over! I left when I realised they needed to solve their own problems. While walking down the road I could have been hit by the truck that zoomed by, and the mother and her children were crying out to the father who was running down the road. She had decided to leave that very day. On the bus I caught up with them at more negotiations! I asked if they needed more help. I said I could call our pastor, but he refused because his bishop was supposed to be there several hours before I came.

Today, the man called me to say, “I don't know who sent you, but I believe it was the Lord you believe in who truly sent an angel to help me.”
